Akron ACT-SO is seeking area professionals to serve as MENTORS and JUDGES for high school students competing in the Akron ACT-SO program. Mentors and Judges must be experienced in the area of: STEM, Humanities, Performing Arts, Visual Arts, and/or Business. Please note, applicants may not serve as a Mentor and Judge in the same competition.
Make An Impact Mentors and Judges are an essential component of the ACT-SO program. Their astute guidance, professional wisdom, and positive reinforcement help to transform young ACT-SO participants into confident dynamic leaders and global ambassadors. Many of us had that special teacher, coach, counselor who believed in us, inspired us, and changed us. YOU can be the catalyst that positively changes a child's life forever.
Be educated, skilled, and/or professionally experienced in the requested ACT-SO competition
Complete Akron ACT-SO Mentor Application (must submit brief bio about related education, skills, professional experience)
Mentors may not serve as a Judge in the same competition
Responsibilities
Attend virtual monthly Mentor Session with ACT-SO student: 3rd Saturday of the month, 11am, February - April
Offer appropriate constructive feedback, guidance, and support related to the student's submission material to help the student refine and finalize their material
